Meredith Weissert, MA, LCPC, R-DMT

Founder & Owner of Mindfully Embodied Wellness, PLLC

Meredith is a passionate collaborator, creator, mover, and student of life who was born and raised in Chicago. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and went on to earn her master’s degree at Columbia College Chicago. Meredith first entered the helping profession teaching dance classes to intellectually and developmentally disabled children, while also working as a certified brain injury and recreational integration specialist within a community day mental health program serving adults with traumatic brain injuries. Through these early roles, she worked closely alongside dance/movement therapists—an experience that became foundational to her identity and approach as a psychotherapist. After studying counseling and dance/movement therapy in graduate school, Meredith went on to work in a hospital setting providing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations across inpatient, PHP, IOP, and residential levels of care. Her time in the hospital offered extensive exposure to diverse clinical presentations and evidence-based treatments.

About Me

Meredith valued the opportunity to engage with a wide range of clinical needs in one integrated setting. Meredith later brought this breadth of experience into group practice, where she began refining her clinical focus and preferred populations. During this time, she was introduced to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and completed training with Fluence in full ketamine-assisted psychotherapy protocols. She continues to provide psychedelic integration services and actively pursues advanced training. After several years in group practice, Meredith founded her private practice, Mindfully Embodied Wellness, PLLC, where she now works primarily with high-functioning, semi-professional and professional adults who are motivated to actively engage in the therapeutic process. Outside of her clinical work, Meredith enjoys exploring Chicago’s vibrant food, arts, and culture scenes with her loved ones, baking and cooking, moving and dancing, spending time in nature, and relaxing at home with good books and movies.

Meredith’s approach is collaborative, holistic, and client-centered. Meredith believes clients should be in the driver’s seat of the therapeutic process, with her serving as a trusted co-pilot—offering choices while supporting, challenging, and guiding them toward their goals. Meredith views the therapeutic relationship as sacred and foundational to meaningful change. In sessions, she brings her genuine humanness, balancing integrating clinical skills with authentic conversation, deep processing with humor, and empathetic validation and reassurance with active thought and behavior challenging. Utilizing an eclectic and individualized approach informed by evidence-based practices, Meredith draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). IFS recognizes the person as a whole being made up of complex parts, where CBT challenges our negative thoughts patterns and the resulting relationship between thought, feeling, and behavior, and DBT emphasizes the use of skills like mindfulness, acceptance & distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Integrated with her training as a dance/movement therapist, Meredith’s work emphasizes self and body awareness and the ways in which our emotions, traumas, and attachments live in and manifest through the body in our everyday lives. With Meredith’s guidance, this comprehensive approach supports mindful healing, sustainable change, and intentional growth.
